2015 City of Newport Employee Recognition

For the past nineteen years, The City of Newport has reserved Friday, February 22 to pay tribute to the fine public employees of our City for their dedicated and excellent service to the citizens and visitors of our beautiful City by the Sea. The City of Newport recognized sixty-two municipal employees who reached service milestones and achievements during the 2015 calendar year.  Also, we acknowledge and congratulate the dedicated service of seven City employees who have retired from city service in 2015.

Once a year we also recognize that one employee whose peers have voted exemplifies the very best there is by honoring them with the Employee of the Year Award.   We believe there is no greater honor than having your peers recognize you and your work as superior and an example for us all. This year’s 2015 Employee of the Year is Laurie J. Kenney, Tax Collector with Newport’s Finance Department.

Cities like ours require the collective effort of everyone from accounting to recreation, from those who beautify our grounds or keep our office temperatures bearable in the winter cold, to those who save our crashing computer systems or provide us with protection from the things who wish to inflict harm. Our employees represent the best in public service and provide our community with quality products, be it tangible or otherwise. Thank you for all the work that you do in making our City great!
